Episode 14 of our new podcast series – “Our Spiritual Heart” is now available! Listen to “The Illusion of Being or Getting Good Enough” using the player below or on Spotify! Co-hosted by Kelsey Anderson and Kathy Grant, psychologist Ed Rubenstein, Ph.D. will be discussing, among other topics, his personal insights on the pitfalls of striving for spiritual perfection, and how this might be holding us back.

have you ever been told that you are “good or bad” based on your performance?

In Ed’s role as a Ph.D. level psychologist, he spent many years diligently teaching numerous mind-body interventions and mind-based meditation approaches in a variety of clinical settings; and as he discusses, he was very committed to sharing these approaches. However, nearly 25 years ago, he realized through his own heart-felt experiences that these mind-based methods were limited and that our heart was the missing ingredient to address and access the spiritual dimension of our lives. In this episode, Dr. Ed also explores that we are very often in performance mode in our daily lives, which is actually a trap and a difficult way to live. Reflect on your childhood and any activities you were involved in or behaviors you experienced, and how these emotions could be linked to the performance based model or trap in your adult life. This self-exploration allows for a deeper realization of the real meaning of unconditional love through our relationship with True Source which becomes our greatest confirmation so that in the core of our heart we feel that all is well even though things in our outer world may not appear that way.
